Spain Manager Luiz Enrique Is Corcerned About Kepa Arrizabalaga's Recent Poor Performance At Chelsea

Spain's national team manager Luiz Enrique, has expressed his worries over Chelsea's goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga's recent loss of game time, as he plans for the summers European championship.

The 25-year-old goalkeeper had earlier showed some signs of improvement, and seems to have replaced Manchester United David de Gea as Spain's first choice goalkeeper towards the last few matches of the Euro 2020 qualifiers under former manager Robert Moreno.

The Spanish shot-stopper who moved to Chelsea in 2018 as the most expensive goalkeeper in transfer history, is now been currently kept on the bench for the London blue side by manager Frank Lampard.


He has failed to command a starting shirt for Frank Lampard's Chelsea team since their disappionting 2-2 home draw in the London derby against Arsenal last January due to his poor performance, with Lampard currently replacing him with the 38-year-old Argentine goalkeeper Willy Caballero.

According to the Mirror, Lampard has made it very clear that Kepa’s standards have not been good enough for a team chasing a top-four finish, and he his already looking forward to sell Kepa this summer, using him as a bait to land Atletico Madrid’s Jan Oblak in a player-plus-cash deal.

Kepa's recent underperformance is now giving Enrique a selection headache about who will be his number one this summer heading to the European tournament when it begins in June. 

Spain manager, Luiz Enrique who recently returned back to the job last November after reportedly taking a break due to personal reasons, is now looking to retaining United David de Gea as number one, while replacing Kepa with in-form Roma goalkeeper Pau Lopez.

Spain has been drawn in Group E of the Euro 2020 last December alongside Poland, Sweden and a TBD team when the play-offs is completed in March.
