The Football World Rejoices, Following The Recovery Of 22-year-Old Abdelhak 'Appie' Nouri Who Has Been In Coma For Almost 3-Years.
Great things still happens, as Ajax youngster Abdelhak 'Appie' Nouri stuns medical personnels, by unexpectedly waking up, after spending two years, nine months and nineteen-days in coma.
The devastating injury, left him with severe and permanent brain damage, as he was unable to continue playing football.
He reportedly woke up from his coma in 2018, but remained bedridden as he was only able “eat, sleep and frown” while depending heavily on his family members for care.
Abdelhak’s elder brother who communicates with his young sibling through eyebrow signals and smiles, says that the former midfielder has even started watching football again
His brother told the Dutch Press; " He is no longer in coma. He is awake, he sneezes, he eats and give us signals with his eyebrows. But he still doesn't get out of bed, as he is very dependant on us."
"I must say that since he is at home it is going much better than before in the hospital. He is aware of where he is, he is back in a familiar environment with his family, and now receiving care."
“He often shows emotions. Sometimes he is emotional, but often there is also a smile. That does us good. That makes you really appreciate a smile.”
At 19-years, Abdelhak was seen as a young promising talent, as he gained promotion to the first team at the start of the 2017/18 season, following his wonderful exploits, and winning the Player of the season award for the reserve team Jong Ajax in the previous season.
The 22-year-old sadly collapsed during Ajax pre-season friendly game vs Werder Bremen on 8th July 2017 in Austria, after suffering from cardiac arrhythmia attack.
