OFFICIAL: Arsenal Confirms The Signing Of Willian From Chelsea.
Arsenal have on Friday confirmed the signing of Brazilian star Willian on a free transfer ahead of the 2020/21 season.
CloudNine Sports had reported last week, that the former Chelsea player rejected a contract extension with the blues following the end of his contract at Stamford Bridge.
Willian is now set to earn £220,000-a-week at the other half of London until June 2023, wearing the No.12 shirt.
He is the first official signing for Arsenal manger Mikel Arteta, who took charge of the club last December.
Speaking on the Willian's transfer to the North London club, Mikel Arteta told the club's website;
“I believe he’s the sort of player that can make a difference for us... Said the Spaniard.
“We have closely monitored his situation for the past few months, we had a clear intention to strengthen the squad, and he is a player that gives us a lot of versatility, he can play in different positions going forward.
"I have been really impressed with all the talks I have had with him and how much he wanted to come.”
“He has the whole football experience across the world, that would contribute to bring the club where it belongs". He added.

The 32-year-old forward has made more than 600 club appearances in a career spanning 13 seasons, having started his career for Brazilian side Corinthians, before joining Shakhtar Donetsk in August 2007.
He won four Ukrainian Premier League titles and the Uefa Cup in 2009 with Shakhtar before he briefly signed for Anzhi Makhachkala in January 2013.
Later in August 2013, Willian joined Chelsea for a reported fee of £30million, winning the Premier League and League Cup in his second season in England.
Throughout his seven years at Chelsea, he won two Premier League titles, an FA Cup and the Europa League. He made 339 appearances, with 63 goals and 56 assists in that time.
Willian has made 70 caps for Brazil, nine goals since making his international debut in 2011.
He has represented his country at the 2014 and 2018 World Cups, the 2015 Copa America, and was a key part of the squad that won the 2019 Copa America title on home soil.
