Barca and Man Utd "are VERY CLOSE to agreeing on a £69 million deal for Frenkie De Jong"

Following a breakthrough in negotiations this week, Manchester United and Barcelona are very close to reaching an agreement for Frenkie de Jong.

With new manager Erik ten Hag eager to reunite with his former player at Old Trafford, the Dutch midfielder has been one of United's top recruitment goals this summer.

United are sure that they will complete their first signing by the end of the month because the two teams are now in negotiations over a £69 million agreement.

The Barcelona midfielder is reportedly waiting for a deal to be reached between the two parties before deciding on a five-year contract in England. Sport reports that United is confident that a deal will be reached by June 30th.

According to reports, the Red Devils' £56 million bid for the Dutch international was turned down at the beginning of the week.

United is reportedly much closer to agreeing to pay Barcelona's €80 million (£68.6 million) asking price for the midfielder now that talks have been ongoing.

As they attempt to reclaim the money they invested on the 25-year-old when they acquired him from Ajax for £65 million in 2019, Xavi's team is holding out on their valuation.

United have also been in close pursuit of Ajax and Brazil winger Antony - another of ten Hag's former players. As he hope to changing the narrative from the below standard seaons Manchester United had before he was appointed.
