Harry Kane Late Goal Rescues England From Loss Against Germany In Nations League.

England and Germany played out a 1-1 draw in Nations League game on Tuesday night.

Both teams went into the encounter in Munich, hoping to get their first win after dropping points in their opening matches.

Germany and Italy played a goalless draw, while England was stunned by Hungary for the first time in 60 years following a 1-0 loss last Saturday.

England coach Gareth Southgate fielded an experienced squad in a raucous Allianz Arena, but were second best for much of the match as the first 45 minutes ended without a goal.

Hofmann of Borussia Moenchengladbach had the ball in the England's net early on as Hansi Flicks men controlled the game, but his celebrations were cut short by an offside flag.

Germany took the lead in the 50th minute thanks to Jonas Hofmann's goal, having beat Jordan Pickford with a powerful, slightly deflected effort from the edge of the penalty area.

England had chances despite a labored effort, with Bukayo Saka inches away in first-half stoppage time, and Mason Mount and Harry Kane both denied by Germany goalkeeper Manuel Neuer as England sought a leveller.

The Germans were unable to finish off England, and after watching Nico Schlotterbeck's challenge on Kane, referee Carlos Del Cerro Grande directed to the spot, and captain Harry Kane equalized with a coolly taken penalty sending the goalie the way in the 88th minute.

He makes up for wasting two chances with late equaliser, having been denied by a brilliant save from Neuer before he was given a chance to make amends by the VAR late on.

For Kane, the late penalty was his 50th international goal, moving him ahead of Bobby Charlton to second in the all-time list of England leading goalscorers, the Tottenham's forward is now just three behind Wayne Rooney.

"I love scoring goals, I have always loved it especially for my country," said Kane.

"Whenever I can help the team I am glad to do that. It’s a really nice feeling to score. 

"I had a couple of chances earlier, the first one was over the bar and Manuel Neuer made a good save for the second.

"We kept going and played our best football in the last half an hour. Good to get the goal and a shame not to nick it at the end."
