Saliba, Jesus, Saka Shines As Arsenal Sinks Brentford To Return Top Of The Premier League.

With a 3-0 victory over Brentford, Arsenal regained first place in the Premier League. Fabio Vieira's first goal for the team contributed to the victory.

The outstanding William Saliba opened the scoring with a flicked, near-post header from Bukayo Saka's corner in the 18th minute to give Arsenal the deserved 1-0 lead.

Before Gabriel Jesus extended Arsenal's lead in the 28th minute with a similarly well-placed header from Granit Xhaka's diagonal center.

To seal a convincing victory for Mikel Arteta's team, Vieira, starting for the first time in the Premier League in place of the injured Martin Odegaard, rifled a magnificent attempt in off the post from 25 yards out, with Saka bagging a brace of assists.

On the first day of last season, the Gunners' last trip to the Gtech Community Stadium resulted in a humiliating 2-0 loss, but this time, they were completely in control. The victory highlighted their recent improvement and moved them a point ahead of Manchester City and Tottenham at the top of the Premier League standings.

Arteta speaking after the win said; "It’s very difficult place, so credit to the boys. Obviously, we planned certain things to take the game where we wanted and to nullify all the strengths that they have. But then, to put it in practice, at that pace against this crowd is a completely different thing. But we deserved to win.

"Again, against United we had some lessons, we played some great football, we controlled the game but we gave away, in two moments, situations against them and they killed you. That’s a learning process as well. We’re really happy to get back to the top and we’re top into the break."

Ethan Nwaneri, an academy player for Arsenal who only turned 15 in March, was sent on in stoppage time to become the youngest player ever to play in the Premier League.

After the break for international play, Brentford plays at Bournemouth, while Arsenal host North London rivals Tottenham Hotspur on Saturday, October 1.
