Ex-Man United Star Cristiano Ronaldo Has Been Fined £50,000, And Banned For Two Matches By The FA.

Cristiano Ronaldo has been banned for two matches and handed a £50,000 fine by the Football Association as a result of an incident at the Goodison Park last season.

Ronaldo, who is now a free agent following his contract termination by Manchester United on Tuesday, had the altercation after a disappointing 1-0 defeat at Goodison Park on April 9, for which the Portuguese was cautioned by Merseyside Police.

Footage emerged on social media of the 37-year-old smashing a mobile phone out of a young boy's hand as he walked down the tunnel after the game, damaging the boy's phone in the process.

Mother of the 14-year-old supporter Sarah Kelly has refused to accept Ronaldo's apology for the altercation.

The FA having concluded their investigation, charged him with improper conduct, an independent panel found that Ronaldo’s conduct was violent during a subsequent hearing and imposed these sanctions on the player.

They handed down a suspension and fine, which means he will now be banned for two Premier League games should he join another club.

The five-time Ballon d'Or winner who reportedly paid £200 in compensation to the young fan, admitted that his conduct after the final whistle of the Premier League game was improper.

After the incident in April, Ronaldo posted an apology on Instagram. He said: "It's never easy to deal with emotions in difficult moments such as the one we are facing.

"Nevertheless, we always have to be respectful, patient and set the example for all the youngsters who love the beautiful game.

"I would like to apologise for my outburst and, if possible, I would like to invite this supporter to watch a game at Old Trafford as a sign of fair play and sportsmanship."

Ronaldo had accepted the FA charge but requested a personal hearing in a bid to try to avoid a suspension.

According to other reports, the ban will be transferred when Ronaldo joins a new club in any country, but does not count in the World Cup.

The Portugal captain is set to play in the Group H World Cup opener against Black Stars of Ghana on Thursday.
