Manchester United will NOT appeal Casemiro's red card against Southampton.

Casemiro was shown a straight red card by referee Anthony Taylor after making an overzealous tackle on Carlos Alcaraz minutes before the break in the game against Southampton.

The tackle on Alcaraz had been adjudged to be a yellow card offence on first viewing, but VAR Andre Marriner called Taylor to the pitchside monitor and the card was changed to a red card.

Casemiro had never received a straight red card before playing in the Premier League, but this would be his second sending off in three Premier League games and will be suspended for the next FOUR matches.

The Brazilian will now miss the FA Cup quarter-final against Fulham, the Premier League trip to Newcastle, the visit of Brentford and the clash with Everton. In total, he will have been suspended for eight games since the turn of the year.

This marks a huge blow to Man United hopes of turning around their recent poor form in the league, as they were held to a goalless draw by Southampton at Old Trafford on Sunday afternoon.

Erik ten Hag's men now promptly turn attentions back to their Europa League charge.

With one foot in the quarter-finals already following their 4-1 win against Real Betis in the first leg of their round-of-16 clash, United are ready to board the plane to Seville in Spain for the second leg on Thursday.
