Man United's Antony Finally Breaks Silence Over Domestic Abuse and Threat Allegations By Former Girlfriend.

Manchester United winger, Antony, has finally broken his silence over accusations of domestic violence against his former partner, Gabriela Cavallin.

This is the first time the Brazilian footballer has publicly addressed the accusations, saying that he did not assault an ex-girlfriend who reported him to police for alleged domestic violence.

Brazilian media said his former girlfriend Cavallin, had filed a formal report at the 5th Women's Police Station, in the Tatuapé district of São Paulo on June 5, which contained accusations of at least four instances of domestic violence, assault and controlling behaviour.

She alleges that the several incidents occurred between July 2022 and as recently as May this year, including claims of physical violence that required surgery.

The 22-year-old DJ and influencer, eventually gave an interview to Brazilian television to discuss the alleged abuse publicly earlier this month, describing life with the footballer as like “private captivity”, but Antony himself has now responded by outright denying the “damaging” accusations.

The case is under investigation in Sao Paulo but police have have not said whether the allegations refer to England or Brazil, or both.

However, Antony said in a lengthy post on his social media channels that he had just given his evidence to Brazilian police, and insisted that he was falsely accused and justice would prevail.

“To friends, fans and followers. For you, after having given my testimony at the police station where the investigation involving my name is being conducted, I wanted to speak publicly, for the first time, since I was falsely accused of assault.

“I stayed silent until the moment so that nothing could interfere with the investigation process, but during all those days, my family and I suffered in silence.

“I had never been through a situation similar to this, in which a false assault charge resulted in a preliminary and unfair public judgement on the part of some,” the 23-year-old wrote.

“After this investigation is over, my innocence will be clear and justice will prevail.

“The damage that was initially caused to my image will be in the past.

“Even though I was born and raised in a very poor region, I had never been through a situation like this. Thank you for the countless messages of support received at this very difficult time.”

His current employers Manchester United, are yet to issue any kind of formal statement regarding the allegations and the status of the investigation remains unclear.

Antony, 23, joined United from Ajax in 2022 in a deal worth £85 million ($107.1m). He played 44 times in his first season at Old Trafford, scoring eight goals.

His campaign was cut short after he suffered an ankle injury, and he missed the FA Cup final defeat to neighbors Man City.
