The U-23 Head coach Shawky Gharib has said Salah, who is one of the best players Egypt has produced, will be one of three senior stars named in their squad for the prestigious event set to begin July 22 to August 8 2020 in Tokyo.
The Olympic tournament is for Under-23 players, but three over-age players are allowed in each squad. FIFA has long acknowledged that clubs are not obliged to release over-age players for the Games.
Salah's inclusion in the provisional 50-man list means that he would be out for Liverpool in their pre-season fixtures and may likely be out for some weeks when the 2020/21 season starts.
The two time African footballer of the year (2017 and 2018), was part of the Liverpool's team who won the all English UEFA Champions League final last season after a 2-0 victory over Tottenham, with Salah scoring the first goal via Penalty just 2 mins into the game and Origi scoring the second towards the end of the match.
Liverpool are currently leaders in the Premier League standings with a huge points gap ahead of second placed team Manchester City.

Egyptian Olympic team coach Shawky Gharib speaking in an interview, on Wednesday says that;..
"Salah is one of the top three players in the world and any team hopes to have a player of his capabilities and skills in the squad ... I have chosen Salah in an expanded list of 50 players to select 18 players heading to Tokyo."
"The final list that will include 18 players will be sent next June, so it is too early to talk about the names of the 18 players."
"Salah's participation with the Pharaohs team in Tokyo is a decision to be taken only by Salah, his club Liverpool and his coach Jurgen Klopp," he said.
"We cannot force Salah to participate with us because FIFA regulations do not compel him to participate."
