Black Sunday As The NPFL Records Another Death In March, Following The Demise Of "Ifeanyi George" Who Died In A Tragic Car Crash.
Rangers International Striker Ifeanyi George with two other people, were involved in a ghastly motor accident on the Benin-Agbor road, as they enroute their way home to lagos on Sunday morning.
The 26-year-old, was traveling to see his family after the club gave all the players a ten-days break last Friday, following the indefinite suspension of football activities by the NFF due to the coronavirus outbreak in the country.
His car had two other passengers, one identified as a player from Rangers international youth team, and the other a friend of the players.
George who has featured twice for the Nigeria CHAN Eagles, was confirmed dead on the spot of the accident, while the condition of the other two is being confirmed.
Chairman of the League Management Company (LMC), Shehu Dikko has contacted the club Management on getting the report of the accident, commiserated with the Club Management, team members and fans of the Enugu based club as well as the players immediate family.
“We sympathise with the club at this trying time and pray for the repose of his soul and wish the injured ones a speedy recovery”... the LMC Chairman told the club’s team manager, Amobi Ezeaku and coach, Salisu Yusuf in the phone call.

Meanwhile, the Nigeria Professional Football league had initially recorded the death of a player earlier this month, the Nasarawa United defender Chineme Martins, whom after running into a Katsina United Player, slumped on the pitch of play and died afterwards due to lack of proper first aid.
The tragic matchday 23 fixture, ended 3-0 in favour of the home team Nasarawa United at the Lafia township staduim.
CloudNine Sports had reported that Rangers international got 3-2 away victory in their last mach against Akwa Starlets at the Godswill Akpabio staduim in Uyo last Wednesday, and the result sees them occupy fourth position the NPFL standings with 37 points, with the hopes of finishing in a continental spot when the season ends.
