Cristiano Ronaldo Shares An Emotional Message To The World, Regarding The Coronavirus Outbreak

Earlier today, the Madeira’s regional health secretary, Pedro Ramos has confirmed that Juventus forward, Cristiano Ronaldo has not been infected with the coronavirus despite being held in quarantine in his native Madeira.

The Portugal national team captain, travelled to his hometown immediately after his club SerieA game against rivals Inter Milan last Sunday to visit his sick mother Dolores, who suffered a stroke earlier this month and has quarantined himself after hearing the news of his teammate Daniele Rugani who was diagnosed with coronavirus earlier this week.

There were reports that the 35-year-old Ronaldo has been infected with the virus, but Pedro Ramos has said: “Both the athlete and his family are asymptomatic.”

With a reported number of confirmed global cases now over 132,000, Ronaldo will remain in Portugal, with Italy currently on lockdown in an attempts to subdue the COVID-19 pandemic.

Following the suspension of Europe top 5 leagues (Premier League, SerieA, Bundesliga, La Liga and the Ligue1), the 5 times Ballon D'or winner posted an emotional message to the world via his official social media handles, regarding the Coronavirus outbreak;
"The world is going through a very difficult moment which demands the utmost care and attention from all of us.
."I speak to you today not as a football player but as a son, father, a human being concerned with the latest developments that is affecting the whole world.

"It is important we all follow the advice of the World Health Organization (WHO) and the governing bodies on how we handle this current situation. Protecting human life must come above any other interests.

"I would like to send my thoughts to everyone who has lost someone close to them, my solidarity to those who are fighting the virus like my team-mate Daniele Rugani, and my continued support to the amazing health professionals putting their own lives at risk to help save others."
