French Ligue 1 Set To Return Mid-June, As Players Will Resume Training On May 11.
The French football governing body (LFP), has agreed on a confirmation of mid-June date for the resumption of the Ligue1 1 and Ligue 2, which is subject to the government approval in the coming days.
Football activities across major countries in Europe has been suspended since last month due to the global health crisis caused by coronavirus.
According to health authorities on Friday, France has recorded a cumulative 159,828 cases of the virus, with the death toll rising to 22,245. The country is currently on a lock down until May 11.
The LFP board met to review the main points of a draft document on medical and health protocols presented by the league’s representative for club doctors.
"Players are expected to return to their club training centres on May 11 to undergo full medical checkups, as well as swab tests, followed by daily monitoring, which will be detailed between now and the end of April"... The LFP said.
Reigning champions Paris Saint-German are 12 points clear at the top the league standings with 68 points, while second place Marsielle has 56 points, and Rennes sits third with 50 points.
PSG forward Kylian Mbappe tops the goal-scoring chart with 18 goals and 5 assist, Monaco's Wissan Ben Yadder also has 18 goals and 4 assist, and Lyon's Moussa Dembele is third on the chart with 16 goals and 2 assist.
