Jerome Boateng Involved In A Car Crash, And Fined By Bayern Munich For Breaking Quarantine Rules

Bayern Munich defender Jerome Boateng has been involved in a car accident, as he crashed his Mercedes into a motorway barrier.



The 31-year-old German got his car crashed on Tuesday, when he was driving home to Munich after visiting his sick son Jermar in Leipzig, when it is claimed a change in weather caused his car to go off the road.

According to the police report, Boateng was not speeding, but was driving with summer tyres and as he attempted to switch lanes in the snow and rain the car lost grip and smashed into barriers.

He did not suffer any injuries but the property damage amounts to around 25,000 euros.


Bayern Munich have also the Boateng for disobeying government quarantine rules amid the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, which they will donate the sum to Munich hospitals.

Speaking to German news outlet Bild Sport, he said;
“I accept every fine in the world if it is justified. I know that it was a mistake not to let the club know about my trip but at that moment, I was just thinking of my son,”

“When a son calls his father, then of course I’ll still go, no matter what time. I accept every fine for him. I want to see the father which doesn’t leave in such a moment to be with his four-year old son. I think it’s sad.”


Jerome Boateng who has been linked with several transfer speculations, has made 16 appearances in this Bundesliga this season, with no goals, created 5 assist, received 5 yellow cards and 1 red card.
