Odion Ighalo Says He Wants To Remain At Manchester United, Despite Tempting Offer From Parent Club Shanghai Shenhua.
Ex Nigerian international, Odion Ighalo looks ready to forsake a move back to his parents club Shanghai Shenhua, just to remain at his dream club Manchester United.
The 30-year-old, who joined United in January on a six-months loan deal, has expressed his thoughts consigning his future, as he revealed that he is looking forward to spending more time at the theatre of dreams.
His parent club Shanghai Shenhua are also desperate to keep Ighalo in China, as they have offered him a tempting sum worth about £400,000 (₦176,000,000) a week, in other to convince him to extend his contract with them until December 2024.
The Chinese Super League club have also placed a £15million price tag around him, which Manchester United will have to pay to keep him permanently at Old Trafford.
The former Watford striker has played a very vital role for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's team since his arrival to the club, as he now proves to be a perfect replacement for the injured English international Marcus Rashford, scoring 4 goals in 3 starts for the team.
Ighalo’s deal with united is set to expire ending of May, which may seem that he might not play for United again, as the suspended premier league season will not ressume at the start of May, unless he makes a final decision about his future in what seems to be a tough call for him.
Speaking in a question and answer session with the Manchester United fans on Twitter, he was asked if he would love to stay at United after his loan deal expires, and he replied;
“Yes of course, I’m inspired with a lot of things at Man United and j am looking forward to spending more time with the team.”
He also added that;
“When I started supporting Manchester United, Dwight Yorke and Andy Cole were my heroes growing up, they inspired me when playing football as a child."
“And some Nigerian players as well like Jay-Jay Okocha and Nwankwo Kanu. They are great players, they were my heroes growing up and I watched them on TV.
“It is a great privilege for me to play at Man United, where great players like Dwight Yorke and Andy Cole have played.”
