The Premier League Remains Hopeful To Complete The Current Season And Set On Resuming On The First Week Of July At The Earliest.
The Premier League remains hopeful of completing the current season, as they have set a resumption date of June 8, following a video-confrence meeting with 20 club members early on Friday, but insist they will still be dependant on government guidelines amid the Coronavirus pandemic.
CloudNine Sports had reported that the Premier League season was furtherly suspended indefinitely on April 3rd, due to the growing spread of the global health crisis caused by Coronavirus.
A statement from the Premier League reads;
“We are acutely aware of the distress COVID-19 is causing, and our thoughts are with all those directly affected by the pandemic.
“In common with other businesses and industries, the Premier League and our clubs are working through complex planning scenarios.
“We are actively engaging with stakeholders, including broadcast partners, and we aim to ensure we are in a position to resume playing when it is safe to do so and with the full support of the government.
“The health and well-being of players, coaches, managers, club staff, and supporters are our priority, and the league will only restart when medical guidance allows.
“Today’s shareholders’ meeting provided an opportunity to discuss possible scheduling models.
“It remains our objective to complete the 2019-20 season, but at this stage, all dates are tentative while the impact of (Coronavirus) COVID-19 develops.
“In response to the pandemic, the PL, our clubs and players have provided vital support for communities and the NHS and will continue to do so after matches recommence.
Premier League clubs have been kept under immense pressure, after being told that a fresh season (2020-21) must start by the first week of September at the earliest.
With 92 fixtures still left to be played, they have to ensure an effective completion of the current campaign, as they cannot resume playing any later than July.

CloudNine Sports also understands that, the FA Cup is still been stuck at the quarter-finals stage, the promotion and relegation issues are yet unresolved and Liverpool nervously await the chance to win their first league trophy for the first time in 30-years.
