Odion Ighalo Set To Leave Man United And Return To His Parent Club Shanghai Shenhua This Week.
Manchester United striker Odion Ighalo looks likely to return to his parent club Shanghai Shenhua this week, ending a successful short stay at Old Trafford.
The Ex-Nigerian international, made a return to the Pemier League on deadline day of the January transfer window on a short-term loan deal with Man United which is set to expire on May 31.
According to sources, Ighalo returned to training with United last week in preparation for the resumption of the 2019-20 Premier League season next month, which could now be jeopardized after his parent club Shanghai Shenhua have ordered that he returns back to China as planned for the start of the Chinese Super League which is hopeful to begin in late June or early July.
United would like to keep Ighalo at Old Trafford until August, by getting a short extension in his loan contract in order to have more options going forward as they are still involved in a lot of competitions, but they have failed to reach a negotiation with the Chinese Super League side.
The 30-year-old achieved his childhood dreams, and became the first Nigerian and the seventh African to play for the Red Devils.
Due to the impact of the coronavirus pandemic, Ighalo has only made 8 appearances for the club across all competitions and scoring four goals.
He is now set to earn £400,000 (N190M) a week if he returns to China.
He would also become the highest paid African footballer ever, after his parent club Shanghai Shenhua offered him a new contract worth over £75million for over four years.
