Arsenal Star Mesut Ozil Is Set To Be Abandoned By Boot Sponsors Adidas.

Arsenal star Mesut Ozil could be without a boot sponsor after German sport brand Adidas has decided to end his seven and a-half year endorsement deal worth £22million this summer.

According to German Newspaper Bild, Adidas will will not extend the 31-year-old’s deal since after signing for the sportswear giants back in 2013 when he was still at Real Madrid.

The German inteenational will now seek to establish his M10 brand, which sells branded sportwears.

It is not yet clear whether M10 will eventually produce football boots, meaning that Ozil could be seen on the pitch in a variety of different boots once his contract with Adidas ends.

This will be the second major sponsor Ozil has lost in the last two years after Mercedes also allowed his contract to expire in 2018.

Mesut Ozil's agent Erkut Sogut says his client is looking forward to trying out a range of different and "classic" boots once he becomes free to do so.

“After this contract, he doesn’t have to wear something just because the sponsor says,” continued Sogut.
“Maybe he’ll wear Puma for a couple of days, then one day, Nike; maybe a brand from Indonesia or Malaysia. Who knows?

The World Cup winner has attracted controversy in recent years, which haa been one of the contributing factors behind Adidas’ plan not to extend his contract.

Some of such controversy led to his retirement from international football immediately after the 2018 World Cup in Russia, and for his relationship with Turkish president Recep Tayyip Erdogan.

He has also been criticised in recent seasons for not pulling his weight at Arsenal, despite easily being their highest ring player on £350,000-a-week.

Ozil has made 254 appearances and scored 44 goals for the Gunners in his close to 10-years stay at the club.
