Chelsea Completes The Signing Of Timo Werner From RB Leipzig, He Will Join The Blues In July.

Chelsea have officially reached an agreement with RB Leipzig forward on Thursday to sign Timo Werner for £47.5 million.





The 24-year-old has agreed a five-year contract with the Blues worth over £170,000 a-week,  but he is expected to remain at the German club who has just two Bundesliga games remaining this season.

He will link up with his new team-mates in July, subject to passing a medical examination, as he has two games remaining with Leipzig this season.

CloudNine Sports reported two-weeks ago that Chelsea moved ahead in the race to sign the German international, as Liverpool withdraws after failling to reach an agreement with RB Leipzig, and are umwilling to pay the release clause.

According to a statment released at Chelsea website Werner on completing the deal said: 
"I am delighted to be signing for Chelsea, it is a very proud moment for me to be joining this great club. 
"I of course want to thank RB Leipzig, the club and the fans, for four fantastic years, you will forever be in my heart. 
"I look forward to next season with my new team-mates, my new manager and of course the Chelsea fans. 
"Together we have a very successful future ahead of us."

Chelsea director Marina Granovskaia, speaking to the Chelsea website, added: 
"We are very excited that Timo Werner has chosen to join Chelsea.
"We can’t wait to have Timo on board, but until then we wish him and RB Leipzig all the best for the rest of this season.'


Timo Werner is currently having the best season of his career, having already scored 32 goals and registered 13 assists in 43 appearances in all competitions, developing him into one of the most sort after striker in Europe.


He joined Liepzig in 2016, and has so far made a total of 157 appearances for RB Leipzig, scoring 93 goals and making 40 assists, just after scoring against Fortuna Dusseldorf in their Bundesliga fixture last night.
