Everton star Richarlison Claims That Virgil Van Dijk Is Just An Overhyped Defender.

Everton star Richalison has taken shot at Liverpool's defender Virgil Van Dijk ahead of Sundays Merseyside Derby.

The 23-year-old Brazilian forward, claims that Virgil Van Dijk Is just an overhyped defender, and not among the best defenders in the world.

However, Richarlison believes there are three defenders still active in the game who are better than the Dutchman.

Meanwhile Virgil Van Dijk is highly rated by the Liverpool fans as one of the best defenders in the world.

He recently finished second in 2019 Ballon d’Or ranking, after winning the Champions League with Liverpool last season. He was also named the PFA Players' Player of the Year last season.

Speaking in an interview with Desimpedidos, per Mirror, Richarlison says;
"People talk about Van Dijk a lot, yes he is a good defender but I’ve dribbled past him already,"

"He was selected as one of the top three best in the world because he had an excellent season. But for me, there are better defenders in the world."

When asked to name the three defenders he believed to be superior to Van Dijk, Richarlison went on to mention his compatriot  "Thiago Silva and Marquinhos as well as Real Madrid star Sergio Ramos as the only defenders he rates most highly in the world.

Liverpool's first test following the restart of  the Premier League will be a visit to the Goodison Park this Sunday.

A win for Liverpool would see them edge closer to winning their first ever Premier League title on 30 years.

Richarlison scored the second goal for Everton in their 5-2 defeat against Liverpool last December at Anfield.

He will be hoping he can overcome Liverpool strong defence led by Virgil Van Dijk this Sunday, in Carlo Ancelotti's first Merseyside derby in the Premier League as Everton boss.

With 9 more matches left to complete the season, Jurgen Klopp's men just need two more wins to be crowned champions, as they currently have a very comfortable lead in the league standings with 82 points, and 22 points above second place Manchester City.
