Mauricio Pochettino have emerged as the leading candidate to take over from Maurizio Sarri as Juventus manager for next season.

The Italian club side Juventus are reportedly in advanced talks with the representatives of Mauricio Pochettino who has been on the shortlist of candidates to take over the club's hot seat should they sack Sarri at the end of the season.

According to Italian publication La Stampa, Juve's chiefs have already held discussions with more than one candidate over the role, as they are said to not be convinced by Sarri's performance so far, particularly in his style of play despite currently being on course to win his first Serie A title with the club.

The former Napoli and Chelsea manager Sarri '61' was only appointed Juventus manager last summer, but his team have failed to run away with the Scudetto as they have done previous seaaons, having lost as many matches (4) as closest rivals Inter Milan already this season.

Last month he lost the Coppa Italia final to Napoli, following a 0-0 scoreline draw after regulation time and a 4-2 defeat via penalty shoot-out.

Mauricio Pochettino who is from Argentina, but his family originates not just from Italy, the Piedmont region to be precise, the 48-year-old manager is now set to return to management soon, having expressed his willingness to try a new experience in Italy.

The former Tottenham and Southampton manager, has been out of job since his sack at  Tottenham last November but remains one of the most sought-after managers in Europe.

Reports from France claims that Pochettino was offered a role at Monaco, but had already turned down job, as he ‘already promised himself to a top club for next season,’ with PSG, Bayern Munich and Newcastle all linked with a potential move for Pochettino.

CloudNine Sports understands that the Biaconeri's still need another two wins from their final four matches to be crowned champions for a ninth successive season.

The reigning champions are currently first in the laegue standings with 80 pionts after 34 matches, and six points clear from second place Atalanta.

They will travel to play Udinese on Thursday, and still have games against Sampdoria (h), Cagliari (a), and Roma (h) to conclude their 2019/20 season.
