Xavi Hernandez Test Positive For Coronavirus.

Xavi Hernandez has confirmed that he has tested positive for coronavirus.

Xavi who is currently the manager of Al Sadd SC football club in Qatar revealved the information early on Saturday via the club's official social media handles.

The former Barcelona and Spain legend Xavi, said he got a positive result during a routine check ahead of the start of the Qatar Stars League (QSL) and is asymptomatic.

He is set to go on self-isolation while the club's reserve coach David Prats would prepare the team for their first match on Saturday following the resumption of the Qatar Stars League (QSL) on Friday after it was suspended in March due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

"Today I won't be able to join my team on their comeback to the official competition," Xavi said in a statement.
"David Prats will be there on my behalf as head of the technical staff - coach to the Al-Sadd reserves.

"A few days ago, following the QSL protocol, I tested positive in the last COVID-19 test.
Fortunately I am in perfect condition but, following the protocol, I will be isolated until I have overcome it.

"When the health services allow it, I will be very eager to return to my daily routine and to work with more desire than ever."

"I thank all the authorities and especially those responsible for putting at our disposal all the means for early detection that prevents further contagion and guarantees a normal development of the competition"

"Take care and see you soon on the football pitch"... He concluded.

Earlier this month, the 40-year-old Spaniard extended his contract with the Qatari club by one-year despite being linked to take up the managerial role at his boyhood club Barcelona.

He turned down an offer from Barcelona in January, before the Barca board finally settled for Quique Setién to succeed Ernesto Valverde.

Xavi won the Super Cup and Qatar Cup with Al-Sadd in his first season.

The club are currently 11 points away from top, as they are third in the league standings with 32 pionts.

They play at home to Al-Khor on Saturday with five rounds of matches remaining to complete the season.
