Man United Skipper Harry Maguire To Miss Games Against Leicester And Liverpool Due To Injury.

Manchester United captain Harry Maguire is set to miss his first Premier League match for the Red Devils this week when they host his former club Leicester on Tuesday, and Liverpool on Thursday.

The 28-year-old English defender was forced off in the 78th minute with ankle injury after Aston Villa's midfielder Anwar El Ghazi landed awkwardly on the skipper at the Villa Park last Sunday.

The injury for Maguire see him end his 6,467 minute spell having appeared in every single Premier League games for United since making his debut in August 2019.

He has made over 107 appearances across all competitions and scored 5 goals.

Due to the congestion of games for United towards the end of the season, Manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has already ruled out Maguire for the visit of Leicester and Liverpool this week, as he will have a scan on Monday to determine the full extent of his injury.

"The players are learning, developing, the group as a whole, getting better," Solskjaer said via the clubs website.

"You've been to the stadium, you hear the spirit, the camaraderie, they back each other, there is competition for places. Very happy that we've done that twice now.

"We have a final to look forward to. Hopefully it will be with Harry Maguire, I don't know. We've got to check him. It might be a few weeks, it might be a couple of days, who knows.

"Hopefully he won't be too bad but I'm not a doctor and we've got to check him and scan him tomorrow. It was his ankle, lower leg, I think the boy landed on top of him, so he twisted his ankle and got a knock.

"Harry has been excellent and it is almost unheard of, the minutes he has played without missing out. His fitness is very good, he's robust but today it looked like the boy landed on top of him and he twisted his ankle, so that's something you can't really defend yourself against. Unfortunately, he had to come off.

"I don’t know how bad it is. Maybe he's available for Thursday I don’t know, I will tell you more on Tuesday night when I next see you all."
