Chelsea Set To Fine Romelu Lukaku Despite Positive Meeting With Thomas Tuchel.

Romelu Lukaku has returned to training with the first-team as usual on Monday after reportedly having a positive meeting with manager Thomas Tuchel.

The Belgian international has been at the centre of a controversy this past week due to an interview recorded several weeks ago in which he said he was unhappy with his role at the club and would like to return to his former club Inter Milan in the near future.

The unauthorized statement from Lukaku left members of the club and fans furious which led to the Blues boss dropping him from his matchday squad that drew 2-2 at home to Liverpool on Sunday.

 

According to multiple reports, the 28-year-old striker has apologized for his actions, accepting that the controversial interview with Sky in Italy was a mistake.

The Telegraph also added that Chelsea board and owner Roman Abramovich backed Tuchel's handling of Lukaku's situation perfectly, while the club have not commented on the meeting, but could fine Lukaku €500,000 as punishment for his actions.

Lukaku explained to Thomas Tuchel and Chelsea board that he has no intention of leaving the West London club in January, and Chelsea won’t entertain any discussion with other clubs over a loan on permanent move. 

The former Everton and Man United striker, also had very good training session yesterday, working ‘very hard’ with the rest of his Chelsea teammates right after his conversation with Tuchel and hopes to be back in the matchday squad that will play at home against his former manager (Antonio Conte) Spurs side in the first-leg of the League Cup semi-final on Wednesday night.
