Jose Mourinho Angered By His Players Weakness After 4-3 Defeat At Home To Juventus.

Jose Mourinho reacts angrily following Roma's shambolic loss at home to Juventus on Sunday night.

Roma threw away a commanding 3-1 lead in the space of seven minute to lose to Juventus at the Stadio Olimpico.

The Giallorossi who played the game without the services of most of their first-team players due to suspension, injury, AFCON and Covid_19 issues, saw new Arsenal loanee Ainsley Maitland-Niles started for Roma just 24-hours after his move, with Felix Afena-Gyan getting his first start.

The Bianconeri had some players injured, and coach Max Allegri suspended.

Tammy Abraham opened scoring just 11 minutes into the game through a header from Jordan Veretout cross after series of corner.

Federico Chiesa shook off Maitland-Niles to roll across from the left, which Paulo Dybala converted with his left foot, to give Juve the equaliser in the 18th minute.

Roma looked to be in control at the start of second half, after goals from Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Lorenzo Pellegrini in the 48th and 53rd minute respectively.

But with 20 minutes to go, Juventus scored three times in seven minutes to turn the game on its head. Manuel Locatelli halved the deficit, and 2 minute later,  Dejan Kulusevski drew the visitors level before Mattia De Sciglio struck the fourth goal for Juve in the 77th minute.

Moments later, Roma had the chance to still rescue the game, after a VAR review showed that Matthijs de Ligt had blocked a shot with his arm in the area with nine-minutes remaining, resulting in a second yellow for the Dutchman who left the game afterwards.

Roma captain Pellegrini was tasked with the spot kick, but his low shot was saved was saved by Wojciech Szczesny to secure all three points for visiting Juve following an incredible 4-3 comeback win.

It is Roma's second Serie A defeat in a row after the midweek 3-1 loss to AC Milan. They remain seventh, nine points behind fourth-placed Atalanta, who also have a game in hand.

Roma's boss Jose Mourinho was furious, and did not hold back in criticising his players, accusing them of being "weak" and "lacking personality".

"We were in complete control for 70 minutes. The team played really well, controlling the game,"  Mourinho told DAZN.

"The team had the mentality of taking control, we came out and started strong. We had this idea of the high press, of controlling the tempo and taking the initiative.

"It was so good for 70 minutes, then there was this psychological collapse.

"When we allowed them back in for 3-2, a team with a strong mentality like Juventus, a strong character. The fear set in. A psychological complex. It’s not a problem for me having 3-2, it’s a problem for them. For my team.

"At the end of the day, when you’re in the s***, you get back on your feet and find your character.

The former Chelsea, Man United and Spurs manager, futher declared his players are "too nice" and "too weak"

"But there are people in this locker room who are a bit too nice, a bit too weak.

"I already told the players, if the game had ended at the 70th minute, it would’ve been an extraordinary performance. Unfortunately, it didn’t end then".

Meanwhile, the victory for Juventus moved them up to 38 points in fifth place, six points ahead of eighth-placed Roma.
