Liverpool Set-Up Clash With Chelsea In The League Cup Final.

  • Liverpool defeats Arsenal 2-0 at the Emirates stadium on Thursday night to set a Carabao Cup final clash with Chelsea.

Diogo Jota scored twice in the 19th and 77th minute respectively to separate the two sides in the tie having played out a goalless draw in the first leg at Anfield last week which saw Arsenal play much of the match with 10-men due to a Red card to Granit Xhaka.

It was a forgetful evening for Thomas Partey, who returned to London via a private jet at midday on Thursday from the Africa Cup of Nations after his national team Ghana crashed out from the group stage of the tournament on Tuesday night.

He was therefore named on the bench tonight against Liverpool, but was sent off after entering as a substitute for a rash challenge on Fabinho late on, receivingt yellow cards inside 16 minutes.

It was certainly not expected that Thomas Partey would play any part at all at the Emirates Stadium, as he was expected to return in Arsenal’s Premier League clash against Burnley on Sunday.

The Reds were also without Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane at AFCON, but Jota made it easy for Jurgen Klopp's side who are one win away from a ninth League Cup title

Liverpool will meet Chelsea for a fight for the first piece of silverware this season at Wembley stadium on Sunday, February 27.
