Senegalese Duo Edouard Mendy And Koulibaly Test Positive For Coronavirus Ahead Of AFCON Opener

Senegalese goalkeeper Edouard Mendy and Defender Kalidou Koulibaly have both tested Positive for the Coronavirus ahead of AFCON opener.


According to reports, one other player Famara Diedhiou of Alanyaspor has also tested positive for Covid-19 as well.


The Senegalese camp, had recorded nine Covid cases to three players and six members of staff before their departure to Cameroon.

Saliou Ciss, Bamba Dieng, Mame Baba Thiam, Pape Matar Sarr, Nampalys Mendy and Alfred Gomis were all left in Senegal due to Covid-19 issues.


Coach Aliou Cissé side are set to begin their campaign in search for a first AFCON title against Zimbabwe on Monday, 10th January 2022.

They finished second place in the last edition, having lost the final to Algeria 1-0 in Egypt 2019.
