"We Won’t Give Up Easily" Thiago Silva Sends Message To Real Madrid After Chelsea First-leg Loss In The Quarter-finals Of The UCL.

The European Champions, Chelsea endured a dreadful defeat in the first leg of their Champions League quarter-final clash against Real Madrid at Stamford Bridge on Wednesday night.

This comes shortly after painfully losing 4-1 at home to Brentford in the Premier League last Saturday.

The Blues failed to rise to the occasion against the Spanish giants and are now 3-1 down as they prepare for the second leg in Spain next week.

Chelsea  backline had a particularly horrendous night, as they were unable to cope with Real Madrid's attacking prowess, leaving them exposed far too frequently which led them to concede three goals at Stamford Bridge, courtesy of Karim Benzema's hattrick.

Veteran central defender Thiago Silva is attempting to maintain a positive attitude in an environment where it is easy to lose faith.

In a tweet on Thursday, the former PSG captain expressed his desire to put up a fighting spirit as the West London club currently finds itself in a difficult situation to retain their title.

Silva '37' wrote on Twitter: "Losers are those who give up on fighting. And we won't give up. We will stand back as many times as needed."

Real Madrid supporters would be naive to assume that Chelsea are incapable of mounting a comeback in the second leg at the Santiago Bernabeu.

Thomas Tuchel's team outplayed the Los Blancos side in the semi-finals of the competition last season,  winning 3-1 in aggregate, before being crowned champions following a 1-0 victory over Man City in the final.

The away goals rule has been abandoned this season which gives the Blues a boost.

Chelsea can force the game to extra time if they can score two unreplied in the return leg next Tuesday.
