OFFICIAL: Maguire, Sancho, Fred, Cavani, Shaw and Pogba To Miss Game against Chelsea Following Injury Crisis.

Manchester United interim boss Ralf Rangnick, has confirmed that the team will be without Harry Maguire, Jadon Sancho, Fred, Edinson Cavani, Luke Shaw and Paul Pogba when they face Chelsea in the Premier League on Thursday night. Aaron Wan-Bissaka is a doubt.

United captain Maguire was dropped from the starting XI for last weekend's 3-1 defeat at Arsenal after receiving bomb threat, and will also not feature against Chelsea, as the England international is battling a knee problem.

Jason Sancho who joined the Red Devils last summer has been ruled out of the contest at Old Trafford due to illness, with the attacker joining Paul Pogba, Fred, Edinson Cavani and Luke Shaw on the sidelines.

Speaking at his pre-match press conference this afternoon, Ralf Rangnick confirmed that several players will be missing.

"We have Harry Maguire who is not available. He has some issues with his knee, not a big thing. He hasn't been training, neither yesterday or today," said Rangnick.

"Paul obviously, Fred, Edinson, Luke Shaw and Jadon is ill, he has tonsillitis since yesterday, couldn't train today and will also be not available tomorrow."

The injury for Maguire means that Man United centre backline would remain same as last game, with Victor Lindelof partnering Raphael Varane, while Marcus Rashford could benefit from Sancho's absence to start in the attack.

United have won just four of their last 15 games and face Chelsea at Old Trafford on Thursday.

With four games to go to wrap a hugely disappointing season, the 20-time Premier champions are currently sixth in the Premier League table, six points behind fourth-placed Arsenal, and four points behind Spurs in fifth who both have a game in hand.

Despite been set to miss out on a place in Europe's top club competition next season, Rangnick has insisted that United will always remain a top club to be reckoned with and can still compete strongly in the next transfer market.

"It would be better if we played Champions League next season but this also affects other clubs, it's not only a problem Man United has," Rangnick said.

"The renewal of the contract of Bruno Fernandes shows this is an attractive club with a new manager and a new approach.

"This is still a massively interesting club and I look forward to helping Erik and everyone at the club to get the best and change the whole approach next season so Man United can be a top club."
