Thibaut Courtois Warns His Real Madrid Teammates Ahead Of Chelsea UCL Clash.

Thibaut Courtois has warned his Real Madrid teammates ahead of their first-leg quarter final big clash against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge on Wednesday night.

Real Madrid bounced back to winning ways in the La Liga on Saturday following a 2-1 controversial win away to Celta Vigo.

They had suffered a devastating 4-0 El Clasico defeat at the Santiago Bernabeu against fierce rivals Barcelona just before the international break.

Courtois was key to the narrow victory against Celta Vigo having produced another outstanding performance to help Los Blancos secure all three points.

Real Madrid were awarded three penalties at the Estadio de Balaidos, with in-form striker Karim Benzema converting two of those in the 19th and 70th minute, but missed one, as they extend their lead at the top of La Liga to 12 points.

Nevertheless, Courtois still believes his side are ready for the challenge of facing his former club Chelsea midweek, but stressed that Real Madrid tend to lack intensity at times during games and warned that Chelsea may punish them at Stamford Bridge.

“Today winning is important, Chelsea lost at home but they will be very strong for Wednesday”, as per reports from Marca.

“To win is very important”... Said the Belgian

“Chelsea lost at home and they will be very strong on Wednesday.

“We lacked intensity at times and Chelsea are very good and strong in that area.”

Thibaut Courtois joined Premier League club Chelsea in July 2011 for £9million, but was sent on a season-long loan to Atletico Madrid within weeks of joining the West London side.

He spent three years with the Los Rojiblancos after series of extension of his loan deal, before finally returning to Chelsea in June 2014 under Jose Mourinho.

The 2018 FIFA World Cup Golden Glove winner, forcefully made a move to join Real Madrid in August 2018.

Courtois has faced Chelsea five times in his career, during spells at both Atletico Madrid and Real Madrid, with two wins during his loan stint with Atletico.

He conceded three goals in the semi-final of the UCL against the Blues last season in a tie which ended 3-1 on aggregate that saw Thomas Tuchel's men further went on to clinch the trophy in an all English-final against Man City in Porto.

Meanwhile, Chelsea who remain restricted by the ongoing UK Government enforced restrictions on their operating capacity, lost to a heavy 4-1 defeat at home to Brentford on Saturday.

They would now be looking forward to positive big response when they face Ancelotti's men during the week.
