Incoming Man United Boss Erik ten Hag Wins The 2021/22 Eredivisie Title For Ajax.

Ajax have been crowned the 2021-22 Eredivisie champions with a match to spare courtesy of an emphatic 5-0 victory over Heerenveen on Wednesday night.

The Amsterdam giants entered the match at the Johan Cruijff Arena, knowing that a victory would see them land the trophy, as Nicolas Tagliafico opened the scoring in the 19th minute of the contest after smart work from Dusan Tadic, before Steven Berghuis doubled the home side's advantage in the 33rd minute.

Sebastien Haller converted from the penalty spot in the 38 minutes after a foul from Ibrahim Dresevic, before Brian Brobbey and Edson Alvarez added two more late on (85th and 90th minutes) to seal the massive win.

Ajax, who have won 26, drawn four and lost three of their 33 league games this season with 82 points, 96 goals scored, and 17 conceded.

The victory for Ajax takes them four points clear of second-placed PSV Eindhoven with one more round of fixtures to be played to conclude the season.

They will finish their 2021-22 campaign against Vitesse Arnhem on Sunday May 15.

It's a record 36th domestic league title in history for Ajax, and a third Eredivisie trophy in a row for manager Erik Ten Hag since taking charge of the Dutch outfit in December 2017.

It was the last home fixture for Ten Hag before he makes his move to the Premier League having been named last month (April 21) by United as their new manager on an initial three-year deal, with the option to extend for a further 12 months.

"To be appointed manager of Manchester United is a great honor and I am hugely excited by the challenge ahead. I know the history of this great club and the passion of the fans, and I am absolutely determined to develop a team capable of delivering the success they deserve," the 52-year-old said in a statement.

"It will be difficult to leave Ajax after these incredible years, and I can assure our fans of my complete commitment and focus on bringing this season to a successful conclusion before I move to Manchester United."

Ten Hag's focus will now shift to a new challenge that awaits him at Old Trafford.

The Red Devils are currently battling West Ham United for a Europa League spot, with their disappionting Premier League season finishing away to Crystal Palace on May 22.

Man United suffered a 4-0 defeat at Brighton & Hove Albion last time out and will earn their lowest points tally ever in Premier League history this season regardless of what happens against Palace.
