Reactions To The Yaya Toure's African Curse That Hunts Pep Guardiola in Champions League.

Following Manchester City's Champions League semifinal defeat to Real Madrid on Wednesday night, many football fans recalled the remarks of Yaya Toure's agent Dimitri Seluk about the African curse that would hunt Pep Guardiola.

Man City came close to lifting the Champions League title last season, but were defeated 1-0 by Chelsea in the final at the Estádio do Dragão in Porto.

Despite that, City tried to prove doubters wrong this season after narrowly going past a stubborn Atletico Madrid side in the quater-final, they came into the semifinal second-leg clash on Wednesday night at the Santiago Bernabeu after securing a 4-3 victory against Real Madrid at the Etihad Stadium a week ago.

Real have enjoyed a remarkable run through this season's competition having also come from behind to beat Paris Saint-Germain and Chelsea in the previous knockout stages.

Manager Pep Guardiola looked destined to join Jürgen Klopp, Carlo Ancelotti, Sir Alex Ferguson and Marcelo Lippi as the only mangers to have made it to a fourth UCL final in his managerial career, and has previously said he really needs to win the competition with City otherwise his six full-season stay at the club will be judged as a "failure".

He had spent extra £1bn on transfers, winning ten domestic trophies which includes three Premier League titles, one FA Cup, four League Cups, two Community Shields, but still cant deliver the UCL title for Man City since taking over as manager in February 2016.

Belgian midfielder Kevin de Bruyne had earlier said before the game at the Bernabeu, that winning the Champions League for the first time in Man City's history would not only make a big different, but would change the narrative of the club.

Unfortunately for the Cityzens, Rodrygo two late goals, and Karim Benzema winner saw Carlo Ancelotti’s men win the tie 6-5 on aggregate to cruise to the final In one of the most dramatic nights in Champions League football.

It was yet another season in which Man City invested huge money and have yet to fulfil their ambition to lift the coveted Champions League title, as they have to wait another year to make their dream come true.

Yaya Toure’s agent Dmitri Seluk had, in 2018, predicted that Spanish manager Pep Guardiola would not win the prestigious title again courtesy of ‘African Shamans’. The famous agent had posted an image alluding to the curse after a Sky Blues' defeat to Lyon in 2018.

Seluk stressed that Guardiola's decision to not count on Toure as a starter in the midfielder's final season at the Sky Blues would not be taken well by some African shamans as per Marca.

"Guardiola turned all Africa against himself, many African fans turned away from Manchester City," said Seluk.

"And I'm sure that many African shamans in the future will not allow Guardiola to win the Champions League.

"This will be for Guardiola an African curse. Life will show whether I am right or not.

"The fact that Guardiola ended Yaya's career in Manchester City is not even a mistake, but a crime. But the boomerang will return, Pep.

"You will still see what the African shamans are. Remember this always."

Though Guardiola had won the UCL title twice during his time at Barcelona, but he has struggled to win the competition since he left the Catalan giants.
