Remontada Occurs In Spain As Real Madrid Knocks Out Man City From The Champions League.

Real Madrid completes a sensational comeback again to knock-out Manchester City from the Champion League on Wednesday night.



The newly crowned La Liga Champions, came into the second leg clash at the Santiago Bernabeu after a 4-3 defeat at the Etihad Stadium against Man City a week ago.


The first half at the Santiago Bernabéu Stadium did not provide any goals as both sides went to the halftime break level.


All three goals in the game were scored in the second half, with Man City breaking the deadlock in the 73rd minute when Algerian star Riyad Mahrez converted a ball through to him by Bernado Silva, as Pep Guardiola's side looked to be on their way to a second consecutive final with just two minutes to go.

Substitute Rodrygo Goes equalized for Real Madrid from a ball by Karim Benzema in the 90th minute.

Two minutes into additional injury time, Rodrygo scored his second of the game from a deflected ball by Marco Asensio to give Madrid a 2-1 win and leveling the scoreline to 5-5 on aggregate which was enough to drag the dramatic encounter into extra time.

Rodrygo becomes the first-ever Champions League player to score twice after the 90th minute.

Man of the moment Karim Benzema was brought down by Ruben Dias to start the first half of extra-time and the Frenchman stepped to send Ederson the wrong way in the 115th minute, unlike his Panenka penalty kick in the first leg.


With a 6-5 aggregate victory over Man City, the Spanish giants were able to stop a repeat of another all-English final, as they advance to their 17th European/Champions League final in Paris.


 

Real Madrid would continue to dream of a treble this season, having already won the LaLiga Santander and the Supercopa de Espana. 

Los Blancos (13th time winners) to play  Liverpool (six time winners) in the final, having beaten Jurgen Klopp's Reds in the 2018 edition in Kyiv.
