Thomas Tuchel Interested In Signing RB Lepzig 'Goal Machine'

The freshly capped France international has had a productive season, scoring 20 goals and assisting 13 times in the Bundesliga, as well as 11 goals in 12 Champions League and Europa League appearances.

Despite playing as an attacking midfielder, Nkunku is the Bundesliga's fourth highest scorer this season, with only one goal fewer than Erling Haaland.

The 24-year-performances old's have aroused the interest of a number of teams, including Bayern Munich and Arsenal, who have been tracking him since his time at PSG, and he was the first player Rangnick suggested to United's recruitment team when he arrived at Old Trafford.

Tuchel is reportedly 'very interested' in signing Nkunku this summer, according to Sky Sports Germany.

The west Londoners are already eyeing Leipzig for a successor to contract rebel Antonio Rudiger, with Josko Gvardiol at the top of their centre-back wishlist, but they might make it a double raid.

Tuchel wants to add a younger midfielder with goalscoring instincts to his side, as N'Golo Kante and Jorginho are both over 30, and Chelsea has been short in central midfield owing to injuries and absences this season.

The bad news for Tuchel is that Leipzig do not want to sell their 'goal machine', especially because Konrad Laimer is expected to leave this summer.

Leipzig has offered Nkunku a new contract, and his existing contract, which runs until 2024, has no release clause, so any potential bidders would have to pay about £63 million.

Leipzig director Oliver Mintzlaff stated emphatically a few days ago that Nkunku would not be leaving the club this summer, saying: 'We have definitely discussed it internally: we won't allow Nkunku leave this summer, we told him and his agent.'
