Gareth Bale Takes Wales To The World Cup For The First Time in 64 Years.

Wales will make their return to the FIFA World Cup for the first time since 1958, ending a 64-year wait, which is the longest run outside of the competition of any major European nation.

Wales played Ukraine in an intense clash at the Cardiff City Stadium on Sunday night  saw the winner secure their place for the world's biggest sporting event later this year in Qatar.

Gareth Bale who is Captain of the Wakes national team just lifted the Champions League for the fifth time in 8-years with Real Madrid last weekend, looked to guide his country into making history.

The 32-year-old attention was swiftly turned to international matters, having successfully taken Wales to the Euros semifinals, and has just taken them to their first World Cup in 64 years.

The two teams set up a date against each other after they won their respective semi-final play-off fixtures.

Ukraine had to get past Scotland on Wednesday, June 1, to make it to the final, with Wales earlier on edging Austria to take a huge step towards qualifying for the tournament.

Bale helped hand Rob Page men the lead with a free-kick from some way out, but despite not getting the final touch, his effort ended up in the back of the net off the head of former West Ham striker Andriy Yarmolenko in the 34th minute to spark pandemonium from the home faithful.

It was undoubtedly Rob Page biggest game of his managerial career to date.

Wales will play England, United States and Iran in Group B at Qatar 2022.

Gareth Bale further used the opportunity to deliver the biggest hint on his Wales future as he joked that he is now going to delay his retirement for "a little bit." 

"It's the greatest result in the history of Welsh football. We are all so ecstatic, and we're going to a World Cup," he told reporters. 

"It's what dreams are made of. It's what we've been working for since we first came together. I'm speechless because we're so happy - we did it for all our amazing fans and our country. Words can't describe how we're feeling at the moment," he added.
