Manchester United Target, De Ligt Reacts To Manchester United Transfer Links

Matthijs de Ligt believes he is "focused" on Juventus, thereby ruling out any possibility of a Manchester United reunion with Erik ten Hag.

After a disastrous season under predecessors Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and Ralf Rangnick, United manager Ten Hag is looking to bolster his squad this summer. Eric Bailly and Phil Jones are both expected to leave the club this summer, while Harry Maguire underperformed last season and Raphael Varane is still adjusting to English game.

De Ligt is a fan of the new Old Trafford manager, who previously coached him at Ajax, where the centre-back was a major member of the side that reached the Champions League semi-finals.

The 22-year-old, who is under contract until 2024 but has been heavily linked with a move away from the Allianz Stadium, has responded to all the rumours. He told NOS, "I look at the sporting project."

"Coming in fourth place for the second year in a row isn't good enough - Juventus understands this as well. As a result, as Juventus, we must take action. I'm a Juventus player, so that's all I'm thinking about.

"Juventus and I are in discussions right now." I'll determine whether to extend or look deeper when the time comes."

De Ligt joined Inter in 2019 for £67.5 million from Ajax, and has since made over 115 appearances for the Italian giants.
