Zinedine Zidane Won’t Be In Charge Of PSG Next Season.

Paris Saint-Germain's number one target to take over from Mauricio Pochettino was Zinedine Zidane, but the French club were not able to get a deal done with him.

Zidane has been without a team since he left Real Madrid after a second spell in charge in the summer of 2021 having led the Spanish giants to three consecutive Champions League victories between 2016-2018.

The PSG hierarchy have made every effort to convince Zidane to be their next coach and succeed Mauricio Pochettino at the dugout next season, as the Argentine is on the verge of being sacked.

The former club captain Pochettino, would leave Paris after 18 months in charge.

Zidane who is still undecided about returning to coaching, would either take on the job at PSG or that of the France national team which are his main options in future.

According to French outlet RMC Sport, Zinedine Zidane’s sole objective is to coach the France national team after the 2022 FIFA World Cup.

The Les Bleus are set to defend the 2018 World Cup title later this year in Qatar under the guide of Didier Deschamps. They are in group D alongside Denmark, Tunisia and Australia.

In an interview with Telefoot, the French legend spoke about his future as a coach, where he is keeping the door open, but does not know when he will be back in the dugout.

"Can I still contribute things as a coach? Yes, many, or I think some. I want to continue because I still have the illusion, it's my passion," Zidane explained.

The reigning Ligue 1 champions are already negotiating with Nice to make Christophe Galtier Pochettino’s successor. Negotiations are expected to intensify in the coming days once Pochettino’s departure is made official.

Galtier has two left years to go on his contract with Nice, having arrived last summer after winning the Ligue 1 title with Lille.
