OFFICIAL: Man United Announce Lisandro Martinez Deal From Ajax.

Manchester United have announced the €55m signing of Lisandro Martinez from AFC Ajax.

United will pay a guaranteed €57m (£48.5m) for the Argentine defender, with an additional €10m (£8.5m) in add-ons agreed between the two clubs.

The 24-year-old flew into Manchester on Friday with his agent and United are expected to complete the deal in the coming days.

The deal is subject to medical, to player terms being finalised, and to UK visa requirements, before he puts pen to paper on a five-year contract with an option of a further 12 months, which would keep him at Old Trafford until June 2027.

He will earn around £120,000-a-week over his 5-year contract at United.

Martinez had worked with new Man United manager Erik ten Hag last season at Ajax; and was also targeted by Arsenal but choosed Old Trafford as his next destination.

He won two Eredivisie titles along with the KNVB Cup after moving from Defensa y Justica in 2019, playing 118 official games for the Dutch champions.

Martinez becomes manager Erik ten Hag’s third summer signing following the arrival of Tyrell Malacia from Feyenoord and Christian Eriksen as a free agent.

He is expected to link up with the Red Devils squad on their pre-season tour in Australia but he will not travel to Perth and is likely to make his debut against Atletico Madrid in Oslo on July 30.

United begins their 2022-23 Premier League season at home to Brighton on August 7.
