Real Madrid Are Crowned 2022 UEFA Super Cup Champions After A 2-0 Win Against Eintracht Frankfurt.

Real Madrid have emerged champions of the 2022 UEFA Super Cup following a 2-0 victory against Eintracht Frankfurt at the Helsinki Olympic Stadium, Finland on Wednesday night.

The Champions League and Europa League winners from last season earned he right to be crowned Europe’s finest at the start of the new season, following their respective victories over Liverpool and Rangers back in May.

Just before the game, Real Madrid duo Karim Benzema and Vinicius Junior were presented with special awards by UEFA as the Champions League Player of the Season and Young Player of the Season respectively.

The duo were very instrumental in leading the Los Blancos side to win their 14th European title.

The Frenchman notched 15 goals and 2 assists while the Brazilian winger contributed with 4 goals and 7 assists, including the match-winner in the final against Liverpool.

Carlo Ancelotti's men started the game on a strong foot, as the midfield trio of Luka Modrić, Casemiro and Toni Kroos controlled the play and anchored the midfield, gaving Frankfurt no room to play.

In the 37th minute, David Alaba eventually opened the scoring on the night, after  Benzema’s header from a corner looked like it was heading out before Casemiro headed it back into the centre of the box for Alaba to net home from a close range.

Real's captain Benzema further scored the second goal for the Spanish side in the second half.

A Brilliant work by Vinícius Júnior on the left flank left Eintracht’s defenders lost, allowing the Brazilian the chance to cross the ball into the box to find Benzema who guided the ball past Kevin Trapp far too easily.

Real Madrid (2002, 2014, 2016, 2017 and 2022), have now equalled the joint-record holders of this trophy which are La Liga rivals Barcelona and Italian giants AC Milan who both have also triumphed five times.

Madrid’s most recent win in this competition came in 2017 but a year later they suffered defeat to Atletico Madrid.

Meanwhile, Eintracht Frankfurt, were seeking to become the second German club to lift the Super Cup, as Bayern Munich remains the only German team to have won the competition though Borussia Dortmund, Hamburg and Werder Bremen have all had their shots at glory.
