UEFA Champions League Draw Emerges As Qualified Clubs Get Opponents

Following the completion of the group stage draws on Thursday evening in Istanbul, Bayern Munich will compete against Barcelona and Inter Milan in this season's Champions League.

Robert Lewandowski, who joined Barcelona this summer, will play against his former team. Lewandowski scored 50 goals in 46 games for his former team last season, giving him the second-most goals for the club behind Gerd Müller's 344 goals in 375 appearances.

The two footballing titans of Europe were placed in Group C along with fellow heavyweights Inter Milan and the reigning Czech champions Viktoria Plzen.

Barcelona will be looking to return to the final stages at the first attempt after a disastrous season in which they failed to advance to the last 16 of the Champions League for the first time in 17 years.

Real Madrid defeated Liverpool 1-0 to capture its 14th Champions League title in Paris last year.

Tuesday marked the opening of the club campaign for Ukrainian team Shakhtar as the Ukrainian Premier League resumed play following Russia's invasion of the nation.

Erling Haaland, a new striker for Manchester City, will also go to face his former side Borussia Dortmund in the group stage.

After scoring 85 goals in 88 games while wearing the yellow and black of the German side, Haaland and City were drawn against Dortmund, Sevilla, and Copenhagen, which means he will be meeting his former team sooner than he had anticipated.

Liverpool, the runner-up from the previous year, was matched up against Ajax, Napoli, and Rangers.

On September 6 and 7, the opening round of group stage matches takes place.
