David De Gea Not In One Of Five Goalkeepers Selected In The 55-Man Provisional Spain's Squad For The 2022 World Cup.

Manchester United's No 1 choice David De Gea has not been included in Luis Enrique's preliminary squad for the World Cup in Qatar.

Coach of the Spanish national team Luis Enrique picked a 55-man pre-list which has been submitted to the Real Federación Española de Fútbol (RFEF), the governing body of football in Spain.

The United shot-stopper has been out of favour following Enrique’s return to the La Roja fold with his last international appearance coming in 2020.

Alongside a high profile omission for de Gea, the return of Paris Saint-Germain defender Sergio Ramos has also raised a few eyebrows, following his own international exile.

Ramos is the most capped player in Spanish national team history but his chances of making the final 26 are limited due to his injury record.

His PSG teammate Fabian Ruiz has not been included by Enrique, but Celta Vigo captain Iago Aspas is involved, 

Enrique, who played for La Roja in the 1994, 1998 & 2002 W/Cups, selected 5 players per position, from which the final 26 will know their fate on November 11.

Unai Simón (Athletic Bilbao)

Robert Sánchez (Brighton & Hove Albion)

David Raya (Brentford)

Kepa Arrizabalaga (Chelsea) & David Soria (Getafe) will act as replacement(s) in the case of injury or illness to any of the first three choices prior to the tournament.
