Mason Greenwood Has Been Charged With Three Offences Including Attempted Rape, He Is Set To Appear In Court on Monday.

Mason Greenwood has been charged with three offences which includes attempted rape, engaging in controlling and coercive behaviour, and assault occasioning actual bodily harm, said the Crown Prosecution Service.


Now it has been confirmed that Greenwood will appear at Greater Manchester Magistrates' Court on Monday, with the Crown Prosecution Service announcing the charges just hours after the striker was arrested on suspicion of breaching his bail.


The Manchester United striker was arrested this morning for allegedly violating house bail terms, after contacting his alleged victim (his girlfriend "Harriet Robson") contrary to the law. Police arrived in his mansion where he was serving his house arrest and took him for questioning. .

He has been in house arrest after being charged with rape and assault against his girlfriend.


The 21-year-old footballer was initially arrested over an alleged incident in January after police swooped on his home in Bowdon, Greater Manchester at the beginning of the year.

The England forward, was bailed on February 2, which granted him the house arrest after spending three days in custody. He has been kept in a low profile until today.


The Deputy Chief Crown Prosecutor for CPS North West, Janet Potter said: “The Crown Prosecution Service has today authorised Greater Manchester Police to charge Mason Greenwood, 21, with attempted rape, engaging in controlling and coercive behaviour, and assault occasioning actual bodily harm.

“All three counts relate to the same complainant.

“Specialist rape prosecutors from CPS North West’s complex casework unit authorised the charges following a review of a file of evidence received from Greater Manchester Police."


A GMP spokesman said earlier today: "Greater Manchester Police are aware of an allegation regarding a 21-year-old man breaching his bail conditions and an arrest has been made on Saturday 15 October 2022. Enquiries are ongoing at this time."


Greenwood joined the Man United academy at the age of six after which he rose through the ranks. He was awarded a spot as United’s regular starter at 17-years old, when he made his debut against PSG in the Champions League in 2019.


His last game under the United jersey was against West Ham United in January where the Red Devils won 1-0, and has since been waiting for the direction of his career.

Rumours had it that Man United still pays the young star his £75,000 salary a week despite the arrest.

He has made 129 appearances for the club and scored 35 goals since his first-team, but made only a single appearance for England in 2020. 


Greenwood was also removed from the FIFA 22 and some of his sponsors like Nike dropped his name. Manchester United players went ahead to unfollow him at his social media accounts including Instagram.
