Firmino Reacts To Missing Out On The Brazil's 2022 World Cup Squad In Qatar.

Liverpool striker, Roberto Firmino, has reacted to missing out on a place in Brazil’s squad for the 2022 FIFA World Cup.

On Monday evening, Brazil manager, Adenor Leonardo Bacchi, commonly known as Tite, announced his 26-man squad for Qatar, which was filled with various Premier League stars.

Some of the Premier League players that made the squad are Chelsea’s Thiago Silva, Tottenham's Richarlison and Arsenal duo Jesus and Martinelli, Man United's Antony, Casemiro and Fred.

But Firmino was left out of the squad despite his impressive performances so far this season, with younger stars Gabriel Jesus, Gabriel Martinelli, Antony and Raphinha all getting the call up over the experienced forward. 

The 31-year-old reacted to the frustrating news via a lengthy post on his Instagram on Tuesday, as he expressed confidence that God has the best for him.

He also thanked God for being able to forge the career he has, and paid thanks to fans that have supported him;

Firmino wrote: “Passing by to say thank you for all the lovely messages. The World Cup is a dream for every player and with me, it wouldn’t be any different. Yesterday things didn’t go the way I imagined or dreamed for my life, but I can look back and have a grateful heart to God that he has already allowed me to live that dream as well as so many others.” You, Lord, will keep in perfect peace him whose purpose is firm, because he trusts in you. (Isaiah 26:3) I take this opportunity here to pay my respect and congratulate all the summoned. It was, is, and will always be an honour to defend my country, especially with the gift the Lord gave me.

“I stay here confident that God has the best for me and hoping that Hexa comes. For I know the plans I have for you,’ declares the Lord, ‘plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. (Jeremiah 29:11) #Jesusisenough.”

Firmino's downturn in fortunes under Klopp this season has perhaps influenced his place on Tite's pecking order.

With the £64m signing of Darwin Nunez earlier this year, many expected the Brazilian to fall down the pecking order at Anfield.

Despite being a valuable rotation player for the club, he has so far scored six goals and three assist in 12 appearances for the Reds this season.

Firmino joins teammates Mohamed Salah and Andy Robertson on the winter break to a warm  weather training camp in Dubai, as Egypt and Scotland did not qualify for the tournament.

Luis Diaz and Diogo Jota will also be absent from the tournament as they recover from injuries, and look to remain in tip top condition before the Premier League campaign resumes on Boxing Day.

Firmino made his international debut in November 2014 and since gone on to represent his nation at the 2018 FIFA World Cup and all of Brazil's last three Copa Americas.

He has 55 caps so far for the Selecao, scored 17 goals.

it's unlikely he will be in the feature for the 2026 World Cup, as he would be 34 years of age by then, Brazil have too many bright young forwards who will be reaching their peaks at that time.
