Guardiola, Ancelotti, And Mourinho, Are Top Candidates To Become The Next Brazil Manager After Tite's Departure.

Following Tite's resignation from his role as Brazil head coach just after their shocking elimination from the 2022 FIFA World Cup on Qatar, the South American team are now in search for a new boss.

Tite watched as 2018 World Cup finalist Croatia eliminated his team from the World Cup via penalty shootout following a 1-1 draw after extra-time in the quarter-final stage on Friday evening, with Rodrygo and Marquinhos both missing from the spot. Tite promptly stepped down from his post, as agreed prior to the tournament.

Tite enjoyed a six-year spell in charge of the Selecao after replacing Dunga in 2016, winning 60 of his 81 matches in charge.

Brazil won the 2019 Copa America, and finished runners-up two years later. However, in both 2018 and 2022 World Cups, they fell at the quarter-final stage, against Belgium and Croatia respectively.

There is set to be a sudden change for their national team with all members of Tite's coaching staff and Juninho Paulista, the former Middlesbrough and Atletico Madrid's midfielder and national team coordinator, are expected to depart.

Among the several shortlisted candidates so far that have been taken into consideration to replace Tite, includes Pep Guardiola, Carlo Ancelotti, and Jose Mourinho who have all been linked to the Selecao job.

Man City's manager Guardiola is reportedly the current number one choice to replace Tite.

Despite Guardiola recently penning a new deal at the Etihad Stadium last month which will see him stay at the club until 2025. Though the Confederacao Brasileira de Futbol (CFB) have not been deterred by that and they consider the Spaniard as the ‘best manager in the world’.

Real Madrid manager, Carlo Ancelotti, is also set to make a shock move to replace Tite as Brazil’s head coach.

Ancelotti whose current contract with the Spanish giants expires in June 2024, has already reportedly been contacted by the Brazilian Confederation last October, but the Italian postponed a possible negotiation until Tite's departure.

The former Chelsea and Bayern Munich gaffer has made it clear that his priority is to finish the season with Real Madrid and, after the summer, to take over the Brazil's national team if he reaches an agreement with the confederation.

Roma's manager José Mourinho is also one of the candidates for the job.

Mourinho’s future at Roma remains uncertain and this is not the first time the Special One is linked with a managerial national team job.

Traditionally, the Selecao have only appointed Brazilian coaches, but after the failure of Tite who has received much criticism following their early elimination from the World Cup, the CBF are willing to appoint a non-Brazilian coach, and are focused on bringing in the best available option.

Brazil are in no rush to appoint a new manager as they currently don't have any games scheduled until the second half of 2023 - when South American qualifiers for the 2026 World Cup begin.

Other contenders for the role include Abel Ferreira, the Palmeiras boss who has won two Copa Libertadores in 2020 and 2021.

Fluminese boss Fernando Diniz, Gremio manager Renato Portaluppi and Rogerio Ceni, who is in charge of Sao Paulo are also reportedly being considered.

Jorge Sampaoli, who recently replaced Julien Lopetegui at Sevilla, and coached Argentina from 2017-2018, is also on the long list of potential Tite replacements.

Meanwhile, in the event of all these, Brazilian legend, Ronaldo Nazario, has revealed three managers that should be consider top priority as Tite’s successor.

Ronaldo, who won the World Cup with Brazil in 1994 and 2002, said Brazil had paid the price for poor defending that led to Bruno Petkovic’s 116th-minute equalizer for Croatia.

Neymar had given the South American side the lead in the 106th minute by starting and finishing a superb team goal after the scores were tied at 0-0 at the end of normal time

According to Ronaldo, the likes of Carlo Ancelotti, Pep Guardiola, Abel Ferreira and Jose Mourinho should be among the candidates to become Brazil’s new head coach in the near future.

“There are a lot of amazing names that would do a lot of good. Ancelotti, Abel from Palmeiras, Mourinho from Roma, Man City's Guardiola,” Ronaldo said as quoted by Metro UK.

“They’re incredible names. All of them with contracts.

“Anyway, before the coach’s announcement, the CBF will still have other announcements to make.”
