Arsenal’s Mikel Arteta, and Martin Ødegaard Wins The Premier League Awards For November and December 2022.

Arsenal manager, Mikel Arteta, and captain Martin Odegaard, has both been crowned the Premier League Manager and Player of the Month for November and December 2022.

The Spaniard, saw off competition from fellow coaches and nominees; Thomas Frank of Brentford, Newcastle's Eddie Howe, and Liverpool's boss Jurgen Klopp, to clinch the award after votes from the public were combined with those of a panel of experts.

Arteta maintained the Gunners impressive start to the season either side of the World Cup, as he led the North London side to four victories from four league matches, winning away against Chelsea, Wolverhampton Wanderers and Brighton and Hove Albion while beating West Ham United at home.

The victories saw the table-topping side garner a seven-point lead at the top of the Premier League table going into 2023.

This is the second time that Arteta would be winning the award this season, and four in his managerial career so far.

The former Arsenal player and captain, was handed the award in August 2022 after Arsenal started the season in blistering fashion, winning 100 per cent of their games.

Arteta had also won the award twice last season, in September 2021, and March 2022. The last Arsenal manager to win it twice in a season prior to that was Arsene Wenger, all the way back in 2007-08.

On the other hand, Arsenal's captain and midfielder Martin Odegaard has also been named the Premier League Player of the Month for November and December 2022.

This is the first time since March 2015 that Arsenal have won both awards, with former manager Arsene Wenger and Olivier Giroud claiming the respective prizes that month.

Odegaard becomes the second-ever Norwegian to win the accolade after Manchester City striker Erling Halland bagged his in August 2022.

The 24-year-old is the first Arsenal player to win the Player of the Month award since Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang back in September 2019, producing three goals and three assists across November and December, the most goal involvements by any player in the Premier League during the period.

He beats other nominees like City’s Haaland, Manchester United’s duo of Casemiro and Marcus Rashford, Newcastle's defender Kieran Trippier, Ben Mee, Joao Palhinha, and teammate Bukayo Saka to clinch the award.

“It feels great. I’ve said a lot of times this team has a lot of young, hungry players and we play so well with each other".... Odegaard told the Arsenal's website.

“It’s a pleasure to play with them and show my qualities so I’m very happy to get this award.”
