Erik ten Hag Reacts To Man United 1-1 Draw Against Crystal Palace.

Manchester United's manager Erik ten Hag was unhappy over his side's wastefulness in front of goal against Crystal Palace as they dropped two key points in their 1-1 draw on Wednesday night at Selhurst Park.

United went into the match having won its previous nine games in all competitions and losing just once since being beaten 6-3 by Man City at the start of October, 2022.

Palace went into the game on a back of three straight losses and had won just one in seven.

United looked on course to move up to second on the table after Christian Eriksen cut a ball back to Bruno Fernandes from the left of the box. Fernandes had time to get the ball under control before curling a shot past Vicente Guaita.

United had a penalty claim denied in the second half when Chris Richards challenged substitute Scott McTominay.

At the other end Palace went in search of an equalizer and De Gea produced another fine save to punch away Marc Guehi’s header.

The evidence of the pressure from Patrick Veira's men, saw Casemiro pick up a yellow card in the 80th minute for a foul on Wilfried Zaha, his fifth booking of the campaign, which results in a one-match suspension in the vital clash against Arsenal at the Emirates on Sunday.

Palace continued to push forward, and just when the visitors looked to have held on for the three points, Michael Olise produced a late twist, as he hit a wonderful free-kick equaliser in second-half injury time to ensure that the points was shared.

The result means that United's nine-match winning run comes to an end, and leaves them in third, eight points off Arsenal at the top of the league with Mikel Arteta's team having a game in hand.

Speaking after the game, United's manager Erik Ten Hag, felt United invited the risk of a late equaliser by not scoring a second to secure the match.

"It was one key moment where we conceded the goal," Ten Hag said. "It was unnecessary, we should've gone for a second goal.

"It is quite clear that when you're leading by a goal, and in control, football in one moment can change everything, it was one unlucky moment and in that moment you lose control of the game.

"We were 1-0 up. In the second half we had a lot of space to kill them and go for the second. I never saw we really went for the second goal.

"It's difficult to say why. I have to criticise my team. Go for the second. Bruno and Marcus Rashford on the wings, Alejandro Garnacho, a lot of creativity, speed and power and Scott McTominay with penetration behind."

Ten Hag reacted to Casemiro's challenge on Zaha;

"I think it's instinctive, he went for the ball.

"He missed the ball but it's quite clear, on our right side, it could have been a dangerous situation. He wants to stop it. That was his reaction, it was quite clear.

"Last time we beat Arsenal without Casemiro, so this time we have to do the same."

United remain the only side to have beaten Arsenal in the Premier League this season and Ten Hag has told his players it is up to them to make up for Casemiro's absence.

He also reminded Arsenal that his side were able to beat them without the talismanic midfielder, as he says his team will take inspiration from their 3-1 win over the Gunners back in September, when Casemiro was only used as a late substitute.

"Last time we beat Arsenal without Casemiro," said Ten Hag.

"Casemiro is obviously a really important player for us and he is one of the reasons that we are in the position that we are now.

"We have a squad and we have to fill that gap and make a proper plan and the squad has to fill it. As a team, we already showed how to beat Arsenal."
