Erling Haaland Scores HAT-TRICK, As Man City Close The Gap Behind Arsenal Ahead Of The Game Against Man United

Erling Haaland scored a sensational hat-trick taking his Premier League total to 25 goals in just his debut season.

The Norwegian scored in the 40th, 50th and 54th minute to complete a lightning fast hat-trick and move even further up the Premier League goalscoring charts, as Manchester City defeats Wolves 3-0 on Sunday afternoon.

Coming into the game at the Etihad Stadium on a five-match winning streak against Wolves, City always looked like extending it.

After a tightly contested encounter in the opening minutes of the game, Pep Guardiola's men broke the deadlock after Kevin De Bruyne dinked a perfect cross in for Erling Haaland to head the hosts into the lead with five minutes to go before half-time.

Wolves made a triple substiution at the break, and ten minutes into the second half the match was over as a contest after Haaland added two more goals.

Haaland first dispatched a penalty awarded after Ruben Neves fouled Ilkay Gundogan, before completing his hat-trick with a tap-in.

Jose Sa had passed the ball directly to Mahrez just outside the box and the Algerian unselfishly passed squared it to the unmarked Haaland.

It was the fourth in his short Premier League career so far before being subbed out on the hour.

The tally takes Haaland higher than the last four Golden Boot winners eclipsing the 23 goals scored by Jamie Vardy in 2019-20, Harry Kane in 2020-21 and Mohamed Salah and Heung-min Son in 2021-22, and two clear of the 22 scored by Salah, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Sadio Mane back in 2018-19.

The victory for Man City, means they now sit on 45 points with Arsenal on 47. Pep Guardiola’s side have played 20 matches two more than Mikel Arteta’s team ahead of the Gunners game against Man United at the Emirates Stadium later today.

Haaland will be hoping to continue his fine goalscoring form when City host league leaders Arsenal in the FA Cup fourth round on Saturday.
