PSG's Kylian Mbappe, Lionel Messi Both Train Ahead Of UCL Clash Against Bayern Munich.

Paris Saint-Germain striker Kylian Mbappe has made a faster-than-expected return to training ahead of the round of 16 Champions League first-leg home tie with Bayern Munich on Tuesday night.

After Mbappe suffered a thigh injury against Montpellier on February 1, PSG stated that Mbappe was set for a three-week period on the sidelines, and he was not expected to feature in the first leg of the last-16 encounter.

On Saturday, manager Christophe Galtier said he did not think Mbappe would play on Tuesday.

“I don’t think so. He follows his rehabilitation protocol. He was a victim of a muscle injury,” Galtier said. “We will take zero, zero, zero risk with Kylian.”

However, the 24-year-old seems to have stepped up his recovery from a hamstring issue, as he was seen back in full training with the rest of the squad on Sunday and Monday morning, which is open to the media.

Bayern coach Julian Nagelsmann had previously suggested PSG were playing mind games when they announced the France superstar would not be fit for the first leg.

“I am preparing for the game as if he is going to play,” Nagelsmann said last week.

Participating on the exercise were also Lionel Messi and Marco Verratti also present after shaking off their own respective knocks.

Fears over Messi's fitness had also emerged in the leadup to his absence for the club's Ligue 1 clash against AS Monaco on Friday, but the seven-time Ballon d'Or winner will also be available for selection again when Bayern visits the Parc des Princes.

Indeed, PSG have since named all three men in their official squad list for the Bayern clash.

Qatari-owned PSG are seeking to stay on course to win the Champions League for the first time in their history.

The PSG's 22-man squad set to face German giants Bayern Munich in Paris:
