Victor Osimhen Back In Training With Napoli Ahead Of UCL Last-16 Clash With Eintracht Frankfurt.

Victor Osimhen returns to training again with his Napoli teammates on Monday, ahead of their Champions League Round of 16 clash against Bundesliga club, Eintracht Frankfurt on Tuesday night.


The Nigeria's Super Eagles star reportedly batted off injury fears as he was substituted off the pitch while pointing to his thigh during their 2-0 victory against Sassuolo on Friday night, with Osimhen scoring the second goal for the Partenopei.


Napoli manager, Luciano Spalletti said after the game that the forward will undergo a test to determine how serious the injury was.

With the players getting a day off on Saturday, they returned to training on Sunday morning and Osimhen took part in the session.


The club shared images of Osimhen practising with his teammates as the 24-year-old spent the entire session with the team before their departure to Germany to face the current Europa League reigning champions Frankfurt at the Deutsche Bank Park.


“The Azzurri are preparing for the match against Eintracht Frankfurt scheduled for Tuesday at the Deutsche Bank Park for the first leg of the eighth-finals of the Champions League... Reads a club statement.

“The team trained on field 3 and started the session with activation and bull. Subsequently, the group played a small match on a small field. Closing with tactical technical work.” 


Osimhen, who has 18 goals in 19 domestic league games, and 19 goals in 23 games across all competitions this season. He has scored just once in three appearances in the Champions League.


Luciano Spalletti speaking in his pre-match press's conference said; "Tomorrow is a big occasion but we mustn't show any fear. We must be on the ball both going forward and when defending.

"Eintracht Frankfurt are a good team who hold their shape well. We know we have a good chance but so do they.

"I know what my players are like and what they're capable of. I expect them to make a good fist of the match tomorrow."


Napoli finished top of a Group A that has Liverpool in second, Ajax in third, and  in last seasons Europa League finalist Rangers in last, while Eintracht Frankfurt finished second from Group D, behind Tottenham in first, Sporting in third and Marseille in bottom.
