OFFICIAL: Napoli Are Crowned Serie A Champions For The First Time Since 1990, After 33-Years.

Napoli are Serie A champions for the first time since 1990, after 33 years after playing out a 1-1 draw away at Udinese on Thursday night.

After failing to beat Salernitana last week, the Partenopei knew a point at the Dacia Arena would be enough to guarantee the title, so the Stadio Maradona was also sold out with fans watching on big screens.

Mario Rui and Matteo Politano were the only injured players, while Udinese missed Beto, Isaac Success, Simone Pafundi, Gerard Deulofeu and Enzo Ebosse.

The Friulani had managed only one draw in their last 14 competitive meetings with Napoli since a 3-1 home victory in April 2016.

Udinese had tried to postpone the party again, as Luciano Spalletti's side fought back from 1-0 down after Sandi Lovric who was given far too much time and space to control, adjust and pass it into the far top corner with the inside of the right boot from 16 yards in the 13th minute to give the host the lead.

Nigeria Super Eagles star Victor Osimhen scored the goal that gave Napoli the point they need to win a third Scudetto.

The Partenopei's found their breakthrough after a corner was pulled back to the edge of the box for the Kvaratskhelia scorcher parried by Silvestri into the path of Osimhen to score from 12 yards on the rebound in the 52nd minute.

It was Osimhen's 22nd league goal of the season, as he celebrated so much that he accidentally broke his protective face mask and played without it for a few minutes before the end of the game .

The final whistle followed a pitch invasion to greet the brilliant, deserving champions

It’s the third Serie A title in their history, and also the first one after the legendary Diego Maradona era when he was their captain.
